Three things to keep in mind when booking a headshot photographer

As an actor, your headshot is one of the most important pieces in your marketing package. With this in mind, choosing the right headshot photographer might be one of the most confusing decisions you make in your career. To make it easier on yourself, consider these three things in your search.

Style
Be honest with yourself when looking at the photographer’s pictures. Do you like his style? Do his photos look like they are of good quality, or are they novice looking? Is the photographer posing all of his subjects the same way, or is he emphasizing the individualism of each actor?

Portfolio
If you’re considering a photographer that doesn’t have a website, make sure you see his work before making your decision. When evaluating the photographer’s portfolio, keep in mind the fact that these photos have been specifically chosen by the photographer. He believes that they are his best work. Would you feel confident presenting these to your prospective employers?

Reliability
When choosing a photographer, you need to make sure you’re getting someone you can count on. Can your photographer provide references? What happens if you don’t like your pictures? Does the photographer do reshoots? Will he offer you a refund? Although these aren’t the easiest questions to ask, they might be some of the most important.
